A clean heading, wherever you mount it.
Motors, ESCs and high-current wiring are the enemy of a good compass. The MagNODE puts a PNI RM3100 magneto-inductive magnetometer in a sealed, potted aluminum housing on DroneCAN, so you can mount it where the magnetic field is quiet, out on a boom or a wing, and run a single rugged cable to it. Two CAN connectors let it sit anywhere in a daisy-chained bus, and the X, Y and Z axes are marked right on the label so the orientation is set correctly the first time.
Key features
- PNI RM3100 3-axis magneto-inductive magnetometer: high resolution and low noise
- DroneCAN interface for ArduPilot and PX4 autopilots
- Two sealed TE DEUTSCH UAV-series 6-way circular connectors (CAN 1 / CAN 2) for daisy-chaining on the bus
- Sensor axes (X forward, Y right, Z down) marked on the top label
- Fully potted, sealed, green anodized aluminum housing with four mounting ears; engineered to DO-160G and MIL-STD-810H environmental standards; −10 °C to +55 °C operating
- Made in our FAA-approved manufacturing facility
Typical uses: remote compass mounting on booms, masts and wings · moving the compass away from GPS-integrated units with interference · redundant heading sources on larger airframes

About Node
Built like avionics, because that's what we build. Node is an avionics manufacturer holding FAA Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA), and we've built avionics for general aviation and OEM customers for 35 years. For more than a decade we've also flown large unmanned systems: multicopters, VTOLs, helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. Every Node Electronics part is made in our FAA-approved manufacturing facility, housed in anodized aluminum and engineered to DO-160G and MIL-STD-810H environmental standards, the same standards certifiable UAS autopilots are built to. It's the hardware the unmanned and optionally piloted industry needs when "good enough for a hobby build" isn't.
